Angela Sutton has been binding and repairing books since 1971, learning first of all from Ian Ross at the old Oxford Polytechnic (now Oxford Brookes). She is the current chairman of the Birmingham branch of the Society of Bookbinders, and the Society's national conference organiser.

TEACHING

Angela Sutton taught bookbinding at South Worcestershire College (formerly Malvern Hills College) in Malvern for many years, and also at Urchfont Manor in Wiltshire until its closure by the County Council in 2012.

She also runs occasional workshops at various venues. These may cover a particular style of binding, or be an introduction to bookbinding for beginners. Recent teaching includes a workshop for writers interested in how books are put together, as part of the 2011 Worcester Literary Festival (pictured above).

Angela Sutton’s bindery is in Malvern, Worcestershire, and she will arrange personalised tuition here to suit individual requirements, either for single students or for groups of up to four people. A group of friends may come together, or someone may give a friend a day’s bookbinding tuition as a birthday present. Please email Angela Sutton for details.
