Angela
Sutton has been binding and repairing books
since 1971, learning first of all from Ian Ross at the old Oxford
Polytechnic (now Oxford Brookes). Her workshop is located in
Malvern, Worcestershire. She teaches the bookbinding
classes at South Worcestershire College; these are mainly recreational
but some form part of the Access to Art course. She is
the current chairman of the Birmingham branch of the Society
of Bookbinders.
This website features photographic illustrations and audio-visual
presentations of Angela Sutton's work as a bookbinder and repairer
of books.
The
Case Studies page features about a dozen projects, showing how
Angela Sutton has transformed even the most badly damaged books
into beautiful, readable volumes. The case studies are
all available here as click-to-play audio-visual presentations,
voiced by Angela Sutton herself.
